INSOR hosted a presentation of the new book “On the Path to a Digital Home” by Leonid Reiman, and advisor to the Russian president and a member of INSOR’s Board of Trustees.
Information technology is taking on an ever greater role in our lives – personal computers, mobile telephones, digital cameras... In presenting his new book, Leonid Reiman noted that it was conceived as a guide to the world of information technology, the world of an information society in which people rather than specialists are the ones using information technology in their everyday lives. “We often use terminology which we do not fully comprehend. The book presents the latest in information technology in everyday language. Furthermore, the book describes the programs being implemented to develop the information society in Russia,” Leonid Reiman said.
State Duma Deputy Ilya Ponomarev noted that it is telling that in the West when specialists write about the IT market they write about how IT technologies should develop and outline specific tasks, whereas in Russia writings are largely criticsm. When one asks how something should be done, there are no answers. This book, Ponomarev said, is the first attempt to outline strategic goals for the IT sector.
